Szkoła Języków Obcych UW jest największą jednostką prowadzącą lektoraty na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim. Zajmuje bardzo ważne miejsce w Uniwersyteckim Systemie Nauczania Języków Obcych. W ciągu 70 lat swego istnienia wykształciła pokolenia studentów. Szkoła zajmuje się nie tylko kształceniem językowym, ale także przygotowuje i przeprowadza egzaminy certyfikacyjne oraz poświadcza biegłość językową egzaminowanych. Album wydany przez Wydawnictwa UW z okazji okrągłego 70-tego jubileuszu SzJO UW opowiada o tym, jak Szkoła działała kiedyś, jak funkcjonuje dzisiaj i jakie są jej dalsze plany na przyszłość. It occupies a very important place in the University System of Foreign Language Teaching. Over the course of 70 years, it has educated generations of students. The Centre not only provides language education, but also prepares and conducts certification exams and certifies the language proficiency of the examined.
